Among the rehabs by MM Partners on Cambridge Street, we came across this corner home that is also getting a bit of a makeover. Developers tried to redo 2800 Cambridge Street back in 2010, but appears new owners are flipping the property another way.
In 2010, developers received approval from the Zoning Board of Adjustment for the demolition of part of the property, mainly leaving the garage in order to make way for a new two- to three-story structure. Even though the developers did receive permits for zoning and demolition, it doesn’t appear much was done.
Cambridge Partners LLC purchased the 1250-square-foot lot in September of last year for only $135,000. By December, the ZBA approved plans for additional floors on the existing structure along with a roof terrace. The home was to be converted from two units into three.
In February of this year Fishtank PHL LLC (Union Transfer, North Bowl) received the go-ahead for the addition from L&I. While the current metamorphosis doesn’t appear as drastic as the Cambridge Row construction, we can see the additional floor over the garage and the new third-floor section over the two-story section. We only hope the new windows are also a sign a new front facade is on its way.
