Maybe Cambridge Street in Brewerytown should be spelled with two M’s. Local developers MM Partners have three projects going up on the 2800 block, right off Girard Avenue, and about ten projects total along Cambridge Street. Announced late last year, MM Partners and the Fairmount CDC built a partnership that allowed both parties to redevelop a large chunk of abandoned homes they have dubbed Cambridge Row.
Prior to the renovations, the city cited 2804 Cambridge Street for property maintenance, being an unlicensed and unsecure vacant property, but the new owners will change all that. MM Partners purchased the two-story properties at 2804 and 2806 Cambridge in June of last year for $323,000. By December, they began working on renovating the interiors by cleaning out and demolishing some of the non-load bearing walls.
In January of this year, the Zoning Board of Adjustment approved plans for a two-story addition at the rear of the buildings along with a third floor on top of them, which makes the entire structure three stories. The plans also include roof decks with pilot house access for both. In May, Licenses and Inspections issued permits for plumbing and we may be looking at two and a half bathrooms.
A few doors down, 2818 Cambridge Street is also moving along. The construction history is very similar and all three homes may be finished at the same time. 2818 Cambridge Street is a single construction (as opposed to the two attached rehabs) and will feature an enclosed yard.
